About

Debbie Doe is an electronic musician and immersive sound enthusiast. Pursuing studies in electroacoustics at Concordia University, their practice has been influenced by spiritual journeys, which embody a cinematic and theatrical feel. They are developing an approach to their compositions in which sound in space and its movement play a central role. They enjoy using instruments in unusual ways, utilizing various sampling techniques to create a mesmerizing atmosphere while ensuring that the experimental sounds harmonize with one another through the use of electronic hardware, analog gear, field recordings, and voice. They are constantly seeking new creative methods and techniques to craft their atmospheric tracks and live sets. They specialize in intimate sonic explorations that immerse the listener in fictitious worlds. They are also intrigued by the aural images that can be elicited by activating the deep listening mode.

Le chant du canvas is an immersive work that invites you to explore a painting by hearing. An inclusive experience for visually impaired people. The main objective is to unveil a mental image in the participant's mind.

On the other hand, speakers are placed around the work to create an immersive musical structure containing sound atmospheres. Also, physical movement in space thus unveils the visual narration. Vibrating jackets that Subpac provided to support the sound and warn if leaving the immersion zone.

The facility is designed so that the visually impaired person will be able to feel safe and independent since physical landmarks are placed to serve as a guide to help them with their mobility. In addition, a sound source placed at a fixed point emits a sound that serves as a landmark and helps in spatial orientation.
